Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in the New Forest

LOCAL AREA

There is so much to do in the New Forest. To simply walk and explore is a joy. Hire bikes - or even a tandem, go horse riding, take the ferry to the Isle of Wight, visit beautiful Beaulieu, or go to the beach.

We are only four miles from the yachting town of Lymington with its marinas, shops and restaurants - and the Saturday Market is a must.

RESTAURANTS:

There is a very good choice of restaurants in Brockenhurst all within walking distance.

Brookleys in the village high street, good reports from guests about the food.

Blaireau Bistro at Cary's Manor Hotel, French influence such as Moules et Fritte. They use local, mostly organic produce.

Senspa Thai restaurant also at Cary's Manor Hotel

WALKING

There are so many lovely walks in the forest, a great favourite is to walk to Bank where there is a traditional forest pub with the best steak and Kidney Pie, roasts and local ale.

Directions: Cross the bridge over the ford outside the house. Turn left at T junction, just before next T junction turn right onto path across Butts Lawn. Keep going into the forest over a bridge following the signs to Lyndhurst, after about 4 miles turn left at the tarmac road to Bank. The Old Oak Inn is about half a mile on the Left.

CYCLING

Hire bikes, tandems, childrens add ons at New Forest Cycle Experience and Coutry Lanes. Cycle to Beauleue, to Burley, all over the forest off road. There is a great ride along the disused railway line just outside the village.

Take the heritage train from Brockenhurst purchasing a ticket for train and ferry (29minutes past and 59 minutes to the hour)

The train terminates at Lyminton Pier right by the ferry for a 30 minute sail to Yarmouth.

Turn first left to Salty's restaurant. the owner family are fisherman and serve wonderful fish dishes as well as other home made food. Really good atmosphere.

There are buses or walks around the island. Called "The Land That Time Forgot" the Isle of Whight is packed full of charm.
